Patience Ozokwor starred alongside her son, Uchendu, in a new movie titled Why Marry?.
Produced by Visionary
Directed by Nelson Spyk,
the movie, which recently premiered at the Odeon Max Greenwich cinema, London, is touted as the most expensive movie premiere in the United Kingdom in recent times. A ticket was reportedly sold for £100 approximately N54,000.
The movie is a collaborative effort between movie makers in Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana, and Ozokwor plays the lead role in it.
It also featured Van Vicker, Princess Brun Njua, Suzi Oben, Labell Diamond, Mazi Obi, Goretti, Gift Boyo, Vera B and a host of other U.K. stars. In the movie, the veteran actress who recently turned born-again re-enacted her famous character – a brutal mother-in-law.
The movie is based on a book of same name by author and founder of Cameroon career woman, Bridget Benjamin.
With countless films and accolades under her belt, Ozokwor is regarded as one of Nollywood’s finest actors. Late last year, her teeming fans were stunned to discover that the veteran actress had cut her dreadlocks, shunned any form of jewellery and make-up having followed her new-found faith.
Following in the footsteps of fellow actress, Liz Benson, who also took a backseat in Nollywood after becoming born-again, Ozokwor has also asked her fans to desist from referring to her by her moniker, Mama G.
Speaking about her newfound faith on Instagram early in the year, the actress who currently evangelizes at various churches and crusades, said, “One of the things God warned me about was my dressing and appearance. God told me that wearing make-up, jewellery and trousers, as a lady is wrong. I have been preaching to colleagues in Nollywood. I have not shot any movie since that encounter in January and I used to earn an average of N1.5 million weekly, but that God has miraculously been providing my daily bread.”
